About Joey Berriatua

Joey Berriatua is a 2024 Olympic Trials finalist, having placed 7th in the 3000 meter steeplechase in track and field. A local professional athlete, Joey’s been training and living in Longmont, Colorado since 2018.

After 6+ years of hard work and training at the highest level, Joey is currently ranked in the U.S. Top 10 in the steeplechase. In addition to qualifying for U.S. Nationals six times, he recently notched his third straight Top 10 finish at a USA Championship event. Joey has also achieved success on the world stage, competing regularly against the best runners from around the globe – on the track, the road, and in cross country.

In 2023, Joey was selected as one of the athletes in the Aspire OTQ program, a support program for athletes pursuing the Trials and Olympic Games. Aspire OTQ levels the playing field, providing the resources to help aspiring athletes break through to the professional ranks, and currently, pursue the road to the 2028 L.A. Games.

Joey’s experience making it to the 2024 Trials parallels elements of financial planning: consistency, long-term vision, following expert guidance, regularly measuring progress, and taking appropriate risks. Just like ALTIUS’ name coming from the motto for the Greeks Olympic Games, “Citius, Altius, Fortius”, or faster, higher, stronger, Joey’s journey is both inspirational and aspirational.
